Short bio (copy-paste)
Michael Tine is a figurative stone sculptor and painter in Ventura, California. Born in 1944, he came to art at twenty-five by way of philosophy rather than art school, served in the United States Marine Corps before turning to it, and earned a BFA in Painting (University of Tennessee, Knoxville) and an MFA in Sculpture (University of Wyoming, 1985). He carves figurative work by hand, mostly in marble, and has worked in Ventura for more than seventeen years. He sells sculpture and accepts commissions; he does not sell his paintings.
